Anxi Mei Zhan

A true traveler among cultivars, Mei Zhan—originating in Anxi—has appeared across regions and styles, from yan cha to hong cha. Here, Master Chen brings it back to Anxi with a twist, for travel always leaves its mark. Rather than tightly rolled, as is common in Anxi, the leaves are twisted, recalling Wuyi yan cha or Taiwanese Baozhong—a nod to Chen’s heritage. Renowned for its hardy, broad leaves, Mei Zhan brings a deep, savory foundation to any cup.

Here, unblended and stripped down, Mei Zhan reveals its own distinctive voice: a warm maltiness uplifted by buttery floral notes, ripe stone fruits, and a subtle umami reminiscent of curry leaf and soft spices. Layered yet approachable, this tea is both a satisfying daily drinker and a gateway to further explorations of this versatile cultivar.
