Sencha Koshun Superior

This outstanding Koshun tea has been cultivated on an organic farm, pesticide-free since the early 1980s. Koshun (香駿) is a cultivar developed in Shizuoka in 1970 by crossing Kurasawa with Kanayamidori, and was officially registered in 2000. It is named after its distinctive aroma (香 meaning aroma or fragrance) and its origin in the historical province of Suruga (駿河). Offering a uniquely sweet, floral and citrus-like scent and a light, refreshing flavor, it is a prized choice among lovers of fragrant Japanese green tea.

Our tasting experience left us speechless, as the only word that truly captures this tea is “balanced.” Why? Because it serves as a benchmark for the entire Sencha class—a true role model of harmony, equally suited for beginners and connoisseurs. Unlike some Sencha that lean heavily toward umami, this Koshun remains refined and never overwhelming. Its clarity invites experimentation with variations in water temperature, leaf-to-water ratio, or steeping time. A high-end reference point, ideal for shaping and refining your Sencha taste.
