Kukicha Yame
From the renowned tea region of Yame in Fukuoka comes this refined Kukicha, also known as Karigane. Unlike standard Kukicha crafted from lower leaf grades, the stems and leaf veins of this superior kukicha originated from premium Sencha or Gyokuro production. This difference is immediately noticeable in the cup: a brighter green liquor, fresher taste, and greater elegance compared to most stem teas.
The aroma opens gently with a hint of citrus, followed by subtle herbal undertones. On the palate, the tea is light and invigorating, with only a touch of umami and a clean, satisfying finish. Its character is at once bright, refreshing, and easy to drink, while still offering more depth and refinement than the average Kukicha. The combination of delicacy and freshness makes it an excellent choice both for regular tea sessions and as an introduction to stem teas at their most charming.
Compared to a leaf-only Sencha, Kukicha Yame is softer and more forgiving while retaining much of the sweetness and freshness of higher-grade material. In a nutshell: smooth, refreshing, and remarkably drinkable throughout the day. Its refined green liquor and bright citrus-herbal profile set it apart from ordinary Kukicha, making it a step above the everyday.
