Fo Xiang

Foxiang, meaning Buddha Fragrance, is an exceptional green tea crafted almost entirely from tender buds covered in fine, silvery trichomes, giving the leaves an appearance reminiscent of a fine Bai Hao Yin Zhen white tea. Even before brewing, the dry leaf reveals an intense and captivating bouquet, combining floral notes with hints of spinach and a touch of black pepper.

The first sip offers a surprising contrast to the aroma. Delicate and refined, the liquor evokes certain qualities of a fine white tea, particularly in its softness and elegance. Soft notes of hay flowers, milk and gentle sweetness form the foundation, supported by a creamy, dense texture that coats the palate beautifully.

As the session unfolds, elegant floral tones emerge alongside juicy white-fruit nuances of pear and lychee, adding depth and complexity to the cup. When brewed more assertively, the tea develops a fuller fruit profile and a subtle, refreshing astringency that enhances its lively character without overpowering its elegance.

A remarkably nuanced tea that bridges the worlds of green and white tea, offering both delicacy and depth in equal measure.

GONGFU CHA METHOD
  • Quantity: 3g / 100ml
  • Water temperature: 80°C
  • 4 infusions: 60, 50, 90, 120 sec

For best results in gongfu cha, brew in the traditional gaiwan or brew this tea in a tall glass by filling it with water before adding the leaves. Too high water temperature would burn the leaves, resulting in bitter taste.
