Song Zhong

Cultivated since the Song Dynasty (960–1279 CE)—from which the tea takes its name—this Dancong continues a long tradition. It is only fitting, then, that it has been roasted in the traditional nong xiang style (浓香, “strong fragrance”), albeit with a lighter oxidation than our Zhi Lan 2025.

This rich heritage results in a Song Zhong that is typical in the best sense of the word. The twisted, grayish-black leaves, plucked from bushes over 100 years old, exude the fragrance of sweet and tangy berries and tropical fruits. These notes appear in the liquor as well, enhanced by the minerality of wet rocks and a long-lasting, intense aftertaste. The aromas shift and dance from infusion to infusion, making the tea session a dynamic and lively experience.

If you like your Dancong bold—even a bit flashy—then this one is for you. If you prefer a more composed but equally impressive presentation, give the aforementioned Zhi Lan 2025 a taste.
