Huoshan Huang Cha

Dark, deeply savory, and absolutely comfortable is this yellow tea of thinly spindled buds and leaves from Huoshan. Its stronger roast and longer duration in the Men Huang "wrapping" step is evident through its intensely pleasing, belly-hugging aromas that carry an underlying vegetality reminiscent of seaweed soup, while coupled with fresher aromatics that are sweet, nutty, and earthy like a seasonal dish of walnuts and parsnip. An excellent choice for those searching to satisfy the flavor-mouthfeel-comfort trifecta of a feel-good tea.

Preparation

IN THE TEAPOT
  • Quantity: 6g / 500ml
  • Water temperature: 90°C
  • Infusion time: 4–5 min
GONGFU CHA METHOD
  • Quantity: 3g / 100ml
  • Water temperature: 90°C
  • 5 infusions: 45, 60, 75, 90, 120 sec

For best results in gongfu cha, brew in the traditional gaiwan or in a Yixing teapot. Too high water temperature would burn the leaves, resulting in bitter taste.
