Produced in the city of Uji, this is strictly speaking a Karigane, distinguished both by its provenance and by the higher quality stems Uji uses in its production: leftovers from high-grade sencha and shaded Gyokuro. The difference is certainly detectable: a particularly smooth cup with a gentle creaminess and just the right amount of vegetality should satisfy anyone craving the flavors of Japanese green tea with less of a grassy, brothy richness and less of a caffeinated kick. An endlessly quaffable body is enlivened by a hint of lemongrass and a cooling finish, making it a good tea to drink all afternoon.
