Pretty Flower & Round Moon

A Mandarin idiom meaning 'perfect bliss', Pretty Flower & Round Moon is the perfect way to share happiness with others. Place one of these large pearls (or should we say 'moon'?) of green tea in a large, ideally glass, vessel, and it will slowly flower, releasing both its flavour and the flower petals carefully tied within. Indeed, these flowering teas are a marvel of very ephemeral handiwork: each tea leaf has been stitched together with petals by hand, designed to unfurl and be consumed. A wonderful treat for larger gatherings, whether flower watching during spring afternoon, moon gazing by night, or just to have a nice cup of tea.

Preparation

IN THE TEAPOT
  • Quantity: 1 pearl / 500ml
  • Water temperature: 80°C
  • Infusion time: 4 min
GONGFU CHA METHOD
  • Quantity: 1 pearl / 100ml
  • Water temperature: 80°C
  • 3 infusions: 60, 60, 90 sec

For best results brew in a tall glass and fill with water before adding the leaves. Too high water temperature would burn the leaves, and the tea will taste bitter and sour.
