Biluochun

This Biluochun-style tea from Changxing, also known as Luo Xing, is a good representative of the type: tightly curled leaves release a brothy, vegetal infusion, just barely suggestive of smoke. A very accessible and rewardingly flavourful introduction to fine Chinese greens, with a body of cooked green peas and top notes of tropical fruit.

For a next-level and unusual experience, try our White Biluochun, made with a cultivar normally used for Anji Bai Cha

  • ORIGIN:  Changxing, Huzhou, Zhejiang, China
  • MEANING:  Green spring snail (bi luo chun)
  • CULTIVAR:  Song Yang Zhe Nong 137
  • HARVEST TIME:  March 28, 2020
  • TASTE:  Brothy, cooked peas, tropical fruit

Preparation
IN THE TEAPOT
  • Quantity: 6g / 500ml
  • Water temperature: 80°C
  • Infusion time: 2-3 min
GONGFU CHA METHOD
  • Quantity: 2g / 150ml
  • Water temperature: 80°C
  • 3 infusions: 60, 60, 90 sec

For best results in gongfu cha, brew in a tall glass and fill with water before adding the leaves. Too high water temperature would burn the leaves, resulting in bitter taste.
