Cha He, literally tea lotus in Chinese, is a dish to display the leaves before steeping. The tea lotus is given to the guests to look the leaves and sniff their fragrance before proceeding with the infusion.
The shape, resembling a lotus flower, is open on one side to easily pour the leaves in the teapot without spilling.
Note: As visible in the picture, the left rim of this ancient lotus has a small damage (tiny dimple).
