Straight Scoop Craquelure Teapot

Incredibly light in the hand yet remaining sturdy, this finely-crafted teapot is ceramic ware with an Yixing level of construction. The rims have been left raw, while the rest of the pot is glazed with a network of fine cracks; both will stain with time in beautiful contrast to the cream colour of the material. Produced by Jingdezhen-based workshop Fang Shan Tang, the lid fits precisely enough to control the flow of liquid with the airhole, while a built-in ball filter allows a smooth flow.

This teapot, with its barrel-shaped body surmounted by a concave top and stout, straight spout, resembles the Xian Piao form. Though the mouth opening is narrow, it should admit carefully placed leaves of any size, and provide them with ample room to expand.
