Baihuatan 2022

Not too far removed from the Yiwu range, young tea trees produce these large, twisted buds that exude a tangy and almost smoky fragrance. Despite their recent harvesting, the liquor they produce has a smoothness in the flavor of honeyed biscuits and yellow plum, though the acidity and tannins of green wood are never far away. Both stimulating and refreshing, it may be the perfect Pu'er for warmer climes or to stretch out an afternoon with along with some tea snacks. It may also make for an interesting choice to age at home, the loose leaves' exposure to air ensuring more rapid progress than were they pressed in a bing, but its raw yet balanced character recommends it for immediate sampling.
