A fresh and floral Taiwan oolong with a distinctive milky texture; for this reason it is also known in the western world by the name of "Milky oolong." The dark green leaves are rolled into tight balls that unfold upon contact with hot water. Jin Xuan is mild and delicate. In some sips, notes of freshly cut grass emerge from the clear floral sweetness.
Jin Xuan is also the name of the cultivar—plant variety—used to produce this tea. Jin Xuan was developed in the early '80s together with another famous cultivar, namely Cuiyu. They are hardy cultivars, resistant against diseases and capable of rich yields.
Unlike Cuiyu, Jin Xuan is also suitable for highland cultivation, as is the case for our Ali Shan. At high altitude, the leaves develop richer flavours thanks to limited sunlight and slower growth.
